Heaven and Earth 2: New Moon by the Poolside.
On Intruder Detection. Well, password protection is basically the level 3 security, and even at that, I've put it in encrypted SANSKRIT. So even if I told you that the password was, say, maarjaalam (which I believe is the Sanskrit word for 'cat'), you'd still have problems typing it in: you actually have to know the Inscript keyboard layout to enter the system.
IntruderCam is just to get visible, non-deniable *proof* of intrusion into my *room*.
As for spiking my toothpaste, well, they already are one-up on this. My cucumber supplies were sabotaged recently; they were brutally crushed under the weight of a five litre orange juice can. I'm thinking of subtracting a few water bottles from the fridge in return.
DesiDate had emailed me earlier, and wants to meet me for lunch on Friday. Meanwhile, I've become convinced about three things, first that she's already attached, second, she's trying to play tease with me, and third, time to dump her. I've got to find ways of ejecting out of tomorrow's planned date; sorry honey, no second chances, no comebacks.
The X-Box Live party was a by-invitations-only thing held at Zouk, sg's biggest, and most popular nightclub hangout. While I wouldn't say I can't stand the place, it is fairly decent, I would definitely say it's not my first option for clubbing; given my new found interest in salsa, I prefer places with better music. For, as everyone would agree, better music == better crowd.
Anyway, the point here is that the X-Box party was not a place where you'd find teenagers, unless your mom or pop works in one of those gaming companies participating in the event. And in any case, Jedi Academy is all passe now; the show was all about Halo 2 [got to play it some 26 days before it was officially released :-)] and Forza Motorsport, a multi-player racing arcade that seemed better than NFS Underground. I don't know guys, but video games no longer carry that extra kick for me these days; don't really find it compelling to do the same tricks all over again, but with better sound and graphics. I mean, if I really wanted to race cars, I'll just whip out my mobile, you know what I mean?
I guess MS will really have freebies when they bring their roadshow to kid hangouts like, say, NUS.
Well, that's about it for tonight folks; come back tomorrow evening for a much more elaborate posting on, well, too sleepy to remember what.

An XBOX Live party. At a night club. Great way to drive away all the interesting people what? (I mean the ladies... Nothing gets them calling for their fedoras and coats and pumps faster than mentioning "Star Wars/Trek" and if they still stick around, "XBuh...". You don't need to say the whole word)
About the maarjaalam etc... when are you getting zem pets. And would that piss off the intruders? Could that be used as a weapon to keep away the hordes of ManKo-loving Intruders? Now my suggestion that you get a rotttweiler isn't sounding too bad is it? BTW, getting a cat should help too. Stink'll definitely, leave the intruders aside, keep YOU out of the room.

Re: Xbox
Don't be too impressed with the swag and hoopla Msft is offering gamers in Singapore. That company is sitting on piles of cash, a big chunk of which has been earmarked for Xbox marketing purposes, including the free food at the Xbox party. They hope to recoup the costs in actual purchases of Halo 2, Xbox Live subscriptions and beating Sony in the video-game wars. Plus--this will puncture the Singaporean gamers' bubble--the company is now aggressively marketing second-tier regions such as SE Asia for market share. It went all out in North America, Europe and Japan in the past two years, and now it is trying to win the hearts and minds and thumbs of gamers in other markets. I have heard some people gripe about how games don't have soul or pose a real challenge to people these days. Better sound, snazzier graphics, ever more realistic simulation and cooler soundtracks are great and all. But what about gameplay? Maybe there is a reason why people keep going back to Pac-Man. I want to know when Doom 3 is supposed to hit the market. Not that I will play it. Just want to see how it will affect the social and cultural landscape.
Re: DesiDate
That chick gives girls a bad name. I know it can be hard for a girl to stay friends with a guy when she is in a long-distance relationship. But she needs to be upfront with you and say that she has a beau. That way you can keep hanging out as platonic friends. But, as Dan Savage always says, DTMA--Dump The Motherf***er Already. Yudi-dhar, when he heard what you decided to do with her, said "Good for him."

Ummm, I sure hope you mean Doom3 for the PS2 or Xbox or other consoles, because the PC version has been out for quite a long time actually. You can pick up a copy for USD50 here, here or here. Apparently, ships in 24hrs. The Screenshots can be grabbed here.
As far as affecting "the social and cultural landscape" it was "doomed" to cause an impact the size of Mt. Krakatoa. The gameplay etc were supposed to be pretty simple to start with and lots of people finished it quite easily. But the main impact was the engine. Gamers were expected to build on the engine that the makers of Doom3 created to push gaming to another level. Haven't been following that a lot these days, but hope it's coming true.
If you meant the release of Doom3 in the South-east asia region, no clue there. Better ask the Cydonian. It's very much available here. In fact was about to load it on the univ pc's but needed more admin rights. These restrictions suck!

PC, console, PC, console...I've always preferred consoles over PCs. But Doom played on a Game Boy does not count.

Well, Console vs. PC.
I choose PC. They have the best mods for the PC (Unless the PS2 provides features that enable you to install mods). Played POP: Sands of Time on the Nintendo Gamecube in Fremont, California (Going again in December BTW - I♥CA) and then got home and bought the PC version. Definitely loved the PC version more. Was it the X-Bright screen? I donno - but the gameplay was much better.

I agree that PCs are superior to consoles when it comes to technological capabilities such as making and using mods and playing online. PCs evolve every 18 months or however long Moore's Law states that chips need in order to get faster and better. But with consoles, you are bound by the five-year schedule dictated by the console makers, who theoretically could introduce new systems every two years or so but won't bc they want to generate those big licensing revenues from software. Still, I am a Luddite who uses a Mac. Hence, I pick a console. But since I don't own a TV, I can't play video games either. Oh, the dilemma.... California rocks. Lotsa potential DesiDates here, too.
