Other Blogs.

Just to give a quick heads-up before we go on to other things:- started a new blog to do with Indic language computing. Struck paydirt yesterday on that, and some exciting developments out there. Do have a look if you're into this stuff. And oh yeah, will be starting another technical blog on complexity either tomorrow or day after.

We now return to our usual fare and discuss, exactly, why I'm exposing gaps in my skillset when I grin wide.

Back from Malaysia!

But you knew that already. What you didn't know is that I've lost some, ahh, body-weight, the remainder of which I'm unlikely to get back anytime soon unless I lose weight even further.

That, in a nutshell, is the situation out here. Will elaborate on all this in the next couple of hours, possibly with pictures.

Off to Malaysia for the Deepavali break!

Okay, my leave application is still under processing, and they haven't issued my visa yet, but I'll say this once, so place close attention: fuck NaNoShit, fuck a Comp That Still Refuses To Repair, fuck sleep depravation, fuck everything... me off to Malaysia for a quick 5 day getaway from Thursday onwards. Beat it suckers.

On other news tonight, Alaman*** has taken inspiration from another Airlington desi and has formulated a Plan B in case he doesnt become Dr Alam.

Okay, so that was painless.

Bushwacked once again for four years!

While I was most certainly rooting for Non-Bush, frankly folks, the outcome doesn't REALLLLLLY affect me one way or another; the skies are most definitely NOT going to fall on our heads even if it is Bush who got in.

That said, I'm more curious about the way in which the results petered out; fascinating to see that there is a sort of topographical unity to the places where the Republicans and the Democrats have won. And this is a pattern that can be easily argued to exist at both a macro level and a micro level; consequently, Ohio is a battleground state, not because its electorate is less decided than, say, Texas' is, but purely because of its location. It is, in fact, the meeting point for an America that's blue on its sides and red in the middle; if my earlier research is any suggestion, this is a dichotomy that will become stronger in the days to come.
I'll elaborate on this by the weekend. :-)

Meanwhile, my NaNoWriMo attempt is in a strong need of some significant concentration; the word count, currently, is pathetic (0), and will possibly continue to be so for another two days. Major f*ckup out in Australia; quite possible that my working hours might just get longer now. That, and had this throbbing headache this evening, so decided some Panadol and some sleep would be more beneficial than in figuring out which gully goes where in Falejbagh. Oooh well.

Google Greatness.

Currently the highest ranked entry for opera 7.61 download (The Cydonian; search) and one of the top 10 for తెలుగు (that's 'Telugu' in the Telugu script, search).

Indeed, we live in interesting times.

Back online!

... and finally, it took my colleague's suggestion to get my comp back up! Some weirdo setting in the CMOS setup to do with recognising USB keyboards by the BIOS and not the OS. Yeeehoooo!

Arrrgggghh!!

Some stupid problem with the comp, and can't even re-install Win XP! What a start to NaNoWriMo! *sigh*
